The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill a Correctional Management Services Director position. This position is based out of Racine Correctional Institution (Sturtevant, WI, Racine County)

Position Summary


This position acts as the Institution comptroller in areas of fiscal operations, budget preparation and financial oversight of all Racine Correctional Institution and Sturtevant Transitional Facility’s allocated funds. Responsibilities involve supervising assigned staff and administering all phases of institutional management services programs including accounting, fiscal control, budget preparation and development, purchasing, food service, information technology, communications, housekeeping, laundry, vehicle maintenance, and building & grounds development, maintenance and repair. Developing and coordinating institution management services policies and programs with other programs within the institution and division. Assists the Warden and Deputy Warden of the institution in policy determination and planning programs, operations, budgetary requirements, and utilization of facilities. Maintains records, makes reports and performs related work as required.

Salary Information


This Career Executive 2position is in pay schedule/range (81-02) with an annual salary of $61,630 to $101,649 plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A 2-year Career Executive trial period is required.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have training or experience:

  • Management of budget and/or fiscal operations, including budget development and implementation, purchasing, and financial management (i.e. pertaining to programs, salaries/overtime, equipment, etc.)
  • Leadership or supervision of staff (interviewing, hiring, assigning/reviewing work, conducting performance evaluations, etc.)
  • Overseeing operations of a physical plant, grounds, and buildings

In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have training or experience:

  • Development and/or implementation of policies and procedures for an office, unit, department, etc.
  • Management of supervisors and their direct reports (i.e. mentorship, development and training, employment relations, disciplinary actions of personnel, etc.)
  • With government budget, government finance, or government accounting principles and practice.
  • Developing and/or coordinating management services and programs in a secure facility (i.e. accounting, purchasing, food service, information technology, housekeeping, laundry, vehicle maintenance, building and grounds develop & maintenance and repair)
