The Corporate Engineering Manager will provide support to the portfolio of hotels in engineering, company-wide project management. Role and Responsibilities

Corporate Engineering Manager is primarily responsible for managing projects in the engineering and maintenance aspect of our business. This person will give guidance and direction on various projects to task force engineers and engineering leadership at properties.


Fosters strong working relationships with the field operation Engineering Departments

Guidance for and Lead, direct, and organize all aspects of Engineering activities and operations. Ensure the highest quality standards for maintaining all areas of the hotel, physical building structure, guest rooms, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment per energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs to ensure maximum profitability.

o Use an effective inspection program to ensure all maintenance, renovations, repairs, and the safety and efficiency of building and equipment - as stated above and applying company policy, procedures, and service standards in coordination with the General Manager.

o Participate in the management of all rehabilitation, expansion, and special projects.

o Adhere to all corporate required purchasing policies and controls, including all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules.

o Maintain effective energy management and preventative maintenance programs, conducting special training for other operating departments on the hotel's safe and effective equipment and energy use.

o Improves service performance via performance reviews, coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members. When appropriate, deficiencies are corrected to ensure standards are met and assign team members additional training when needed.

o Property month end reporting

Other Job Knowledge and Skills:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety and Chemical Standards and Department of Health and Sanitation regulations. Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents, proper labeling, and operation of various industrial equipment. Knowledge of Hotel Corporate policies and basic sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant chemicals to safeguard our team members, guests, and hotel property.
  • Ability to obtain any government-required licenses or certificates.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, components, devices, HVAC systems, boilers, mechanical systems, and the maintenance and repair of all. Skilled in the proper and safe use of all tools, equipment, materials, chemicals, and products relating to the department.
  • Excellent knowledge of public construction and building systems, all related permits, licensing, new and existing codes on public buildings and fire safety.
  • Considerable mathematical skills to prepare complex calculations for financial reporting via a moderately complex system to meet deadlines, complete necessary reports and understand information from the hotel, regional or corporate offices, ability to read manufacturer's instructions, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. on a regular and continuous basis and bend, stretch, stoop, squat, and frequently lift 50 lbs. Occasionally lift 100 lbs. Ability to perform tasks while consistently bending, stooping, kneeling, or standing and at times while supporting additional weight up to 80 lbs.
  • The ability to work under hazardous conditions includes various physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
  • Subjected to atmospheric conditions, one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation and oils; there is air and skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment and grasping, writing, sitting, repetitive motions, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Vision occurs continuously, with the most common visual functions being near, color vision, and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job is considered "inside" if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and certification of graduation from an apprenticeship, advanced training program for operating engineers recognized by the industry and trade; 6-years' experience performing building maintenance in a hotel or related industry; or
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in electrical, civil engineering or building maintenance or related major, 4-years' experience performing building maintenance in a hotel or related industry; or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in electrical or civil engineering, 3-years' experience performing building maintenance in a hotel or related industry.
  • 1-year of supervisory or management experience in the same or similar environment required. Electrical License, Refrigeration License, Fire Safety License, and Professional Engineering License preferred.

This role may be remote.

  • Given that our guests visit our hotels from all regions of the world, additional/multilingual ability is preferred to provide a personalized experience to our guests.
