As a cook in our kitchen, you would be responsible for preparing ingredients, processing customer orders, producing meals and keeping a clean workspace throughout the day while following health and safety guidelines. Cooks must follow recipes consistently, adjust based on customer requests, communicate with wait staff and prepare garnishes to make an attractive presentation for each meal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, dishes and all other equipment
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards as laid out by state and local regulations
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils; properly dispose of waste in appropriate receptacles.
  • Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods by operating kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers
  • Remain knowledgeable about the restaurant menu and make accommodations on individual orders as requested by guests.
  • Work alongside other team members to ensure streamlined service and a commitment to work together to achieve company goals.
  • Ensure all ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
  • Handle and store, ingredients and food
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Execute opening and closing procedures
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
  • Monitor station inventory levels; alert manager of any inventory deficiencies
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • One year of cooking experience
  • Completion of vocational school or a two-year associate degree
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and Kitchen administration
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong organization and active listening skills
  • The ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 30 pounds at a time
  • Exceptional time management skills working in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic reading and writing skills in English
  • Basic computer skills
