Cava is looking to bring on a professional experienced full time year round line cook. Applicants should have positive attitudes and be team oriented. All candidates should have a willingness to learn and improve their skills. Experience in an open kitchen is helpful. There is Room for advancement.

Responsibilities

*Include but are not limited to

  • washing dishes
  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Cooking and preparing all menu items in accordance standards set by the Chef
  • Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of food on the line
  • Food preparation and portioning prior to service
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • Dish washing and proper sanitation of any and all but not limited to plates, pots and pans
  • Understand the station requirements for service. In written form produce a list of food items that need to be produced for next day production. As well provide a written list of ingredients that may need to be procured for that production.

Requirements

  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Shift:

  • 10 hour shift
  • Evening shift
  • Night shift

Weekly day range:

  • Every weekend
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Portsmouth, NH 03801: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Restaurant experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Night Shift (Preferred)
  • Day Shift (Preferred)
