Position Summary:

The Controls Systems Engineer oversees the ongoing operations, maintenance, and design of the process control systems and instrumentation for Eurecat US locations in both Pasadena, Texas and McAlester, Ok. The Control System Engineer is an active member of Eurecat US technical team, working cross functionally, acting as an expert and advocate for best practices in the selection, implementation, and development of the process control systems to ensure safety, regulatory, production, quality, and optimization objectives are achieved. This includes technology selection and upgrade planning as well as advisory and research input into field instrumentation.

The overall goal of the position is to optimize the plant control systems for ease of use, ease of maintenance, overall cost effectiveness, and system uptime. The position will work with operations and maintenance in a training and advisory role including hands-on demonstrations when appropriate. The position will also be key in the development and maintenance of process information gathering and distribution including finished product labelling systems. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications in plant operations, equipment utilization, and related matters. The individual in this position will also provide a variety of engineering work in developing and implementing of site and plant related capital projects, which may include, reviewing proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing production/processing equipment.

The Control Systems Engineer supports the plant’s operations, maintenance, and projects, and promote process controls and automation strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Improve production performance through control system and automation improvements.

· Develop training plans, mentor, and assist development of less experienced engineers and maintenance technicians.

· Support alarm rationalization and documentation activities as needed.

· Review and manage the documentation of system standards, control procedures and control schemes.

· Troubleshoot and modify software programs for control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, industrial network, motor control systems servo drives, and frequency drivers.

· Partner with equipment vendors and parts suppliers to review and evaluate new technology for implantation in the plan.

· Develop strategies and action to maintain a high level of cybersecurity of the process network. Maintain accurate documentation of the plant and equipment.

· Maintains the programs for controlling the production units. Approve any changes, except his own, to the control programs, his own changes must be approved by the Production Manager, or Plant Manager.

· Attend and participate in meetings and planning sessions that involve Plant operations. These meetings include, but are not limited to: daily production meeting, weekly safety meeting.

· Maintains a constant stream of communication with Customer Service, Sales, Production, Laboratory, IT and Plant Manager where any technical issues are discussed, and progress of jobs is provided.

· Be a key contributor in working with Plant’s team on unit utilization for optimizing production.

· Works in partnership with Maintenance Department by researching and diagnosing any recurring technical issues on Plant equipment.

· Works with Production Manager, Plant Engineers, and Maintenance Manager on scheduled maintenance outages, to prioritize work and any projects that are necessary for completion during the scheduled outages.

· Works with subcontractors, that can include writing the scope of work and managing the work that is being performed by the subcontractor.

· Be a key contributor on special projects and capital projects as assigned.

· Upon specific request, conducts specific studies/missions for the benefit of other Eurecat sites. Those studies may include international travel to other Eurecat locations. May also be required to attend Eurecat Group Technical Meetings as needed; that attendance may require international travel as well.

· Involved in training process for newly hired Operators; will also train Plant Engineers, Shift Supervisors and A Operators on new technical processes and procedures as necessary.

· Be a key contributor to creating a safe working environment for all of Eurecat. Do this by attending and facilitating, as needed, the weekly Plant Safety meeting and by reinforcing the need to execute tasks safely with the operations and maintenance force on a daily basis.

· Occasionally support Eurecat production system with:

· Required to carry out the duties of the plant engineer as required, including call-out rotation.

· Works in conjunction with Production Manager, Customer Service, Warehouse Manager and Plant Administrator to ensure all special orders are processed in compliance with quality plans that include order specifications, workbooks, quality plans, and final packaging specifications.

· Investigates production nonconformance of jobs and works with R&D to resolve the issues where the cause is of a technical nature.

· Assist Production Administrator and Plant Engineers as necessary to ensure Material Balances are completed and any issues or questions are answered and resolved.

· Lead root cause analysis as assigned.

· Participate in the integrated system internal audits.

· Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Control System Engineer will have indirect supervisory responsibility to any subcontractors on-site at the Plant.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

· Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Chemical or Electrical Engineering; preferable hold a Master’s degree or equivalent combination of some education in related area

· 4-6 years engineering experience; preferably in an Oil & Gas, Catalyst, or Chemical Manufacturing environment.

· 2-3 years of experience in process controls

· Must be willing to sign Eurecat Non-compete and Eurecat Patent & Trade Secret agreement upon first day of employment.

· Experimental plan development

· Technical writing skills.

· Math and statistics skills.

· Analytical skills.

· Problem solving skills.

· Computer skills including but not limited to: Inventory Management System, Microsoft Suite, Outlook

· Experience with instrumentation and control not required, but a plus

· Experience in ISO-9000 a plus.

· Professional Engineer certification not required, but a plus.
