Overview

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, modify, develop, write and implement software-programming for generator control switchgear human machine interface applications. The Controls Engineer will configure, program and test HMI hardware, and work with Power System Engineers to test, verify and adjust HMI programming. Additionally, the candidate will support HMI issues in the field and provide remote HMI installation support.

Job Responsibilities

• Modify template HMI programs to coincide with project-specific PLC programs.
• Convert legacy HMI programs to current HMI programming software.
• Configure industrial computers with software and HMI project.
• Verify developed/converted HMI programs and document test results.
• Provide HMI Engineering/Technical support to Production, Helpdesk, Field Service and Aftermarket.
• Support various HMI packages such as FactoryTalk, Vijeo, Panel View, Siemens, iFix and Wonderware.
• Configure lab PLC networks to support HMI program testing and verification.

Work Environment

• Possible flexibility for some work at home, but the expectation is the worker needs to be onsite.

Education & Experience Required

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) (or relevant engineering degree) with 1 - 2 years of experience
• OR minimum of 3 years equivalent work experience.
• Additional education experience not acceptable toward minimum requirement.

Skills Required

• Experience in dealing with multiple disciplines such as service technicians, engineers, end-users, etc.
• Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the HMI field.
• HMI Software Experience: Rockwell – RSView/FactoryTalk, Siemens, Vijeo, iFix, Wonderware.
• Computer proficient including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Good organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Skills Desired

• Programming Experience: VB Scripting, Java Scripting, SQL Scripting, HTML, CSS.
