Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible to provide critical, scalable financial support to ensure the growth of the Health Center. Supervise accounting operations including production of monthly financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with GAAP. Daily cash management operations and short-term cash forecasting. Issue timely and complete financial statements. Perform analytical procedures to calculate variances. Investigate and report all material variances. Calculate variances from the budget and report material issues to management. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit. Ability to meet all Agency, other regulatory reporting, and Internal deadlines.

Primary Responsibility of the Position:

  • Responsible for the month end close and for producing accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash Receipts and Financial Reporting
  • Responsible for General Ledger account transactions, analyses. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics monthly.
  • Assist with Cash Management/Bank Transfers
  • Responsible for the management of Positive Pay banking transactions.
  • Responsible for the management of Federal and State Grants and Contract audits
  • Prepares contract budgets, budget modifications for continuing state funding.
  • Prepares PMS-272 quarterly reports.
  • Works with the independent auditors in conjunction with annual audit.
  • Assist with the preparation UDS, 990, Medicaid and Medicare Cost Report .
  • Implement continuous revisions to Accounting Policies and Procedures to maintain proper internal controls.
  • Provide Fiscal Support and Leadership, performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Manage Accounting Staff
  • Reconciliation and Analysis of Revenue Cycle Financial Reports.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in the financial field.
  • Experience managing an accounting department including the day-to-day activities of A/P, Cash receipts, Payroll, Financial Reporting.
  • Knowledge of implementing accounting policies and procedures. FQHC background required.
  • Supervisory skills, thorough knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical skills are required for position.
  • Ability to interact well with others, organizational and management skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office, Excel, Word, and Accounting systems.
  • Ability to communicate, strong interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Microsoft Dynamics A Plus.
