Siema Construction is a small but growing heavy highway/civil construction company for 20-plus years focused on commercial site work, hauling, concrete paving, bridge repairs, and building foundations.

Job Summary

The Concrete Paving Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing Siema’s concrete paving operations. The paving equipment Siema mainly operates is the slip form paver and/or triple roller tube paver. The Superintendent will also supervise and direct the concrete paving crew to meet job specifications.

• Manage aspects of construction - scheduling, planning, cost, safety, and quality.
• Must be able to proficiently operate a slip form paver, a triple roller tube paver, and other paving equipment as needed.
• Assume full responsibility for quality control and assurance for paving operations.
• Coordinate operations relating to concrete paver activities.
• Analyze and resolve paver and concrete paving-related problems along with the superintendent and project manager as necessary.
• Safely lead and direct crew/team assigned to particular concrete paving activity ensuring work is in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
• Review the project schedule with the project manager and implement weekly work plans.
• Oversees the paving Foreman of the daily routine maintenance, width changes, and other mechanical functions as it relates to the concrete paver.
• Manage labor, equipment, and job site materials specific to the crew.
• Advise project managers of potential problems, schedule difficulties, material shortages, manpower needs, etc. prior to it delaying the project schedule.
• Interpret and enforce company policies and procedures according to safety regulations.
• Understand construction layout, vertical, and horizontal specific scope of work.
• Responsible for completing crew and equipment timecards and phase units tracking accurately within HeavyJob.
• Work as a student and as a teacher.
• Maintain a high level of morale among crew members.
• Maintain a positive relationship with Siema's customers.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to meet Siema's driving policy to operate Siema vehicles.

Physical Requirements

• Manually lift/carry 50-80 lbs.
• Stand/walk for long periods of time
• Carry tools/equipment
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Perform all required tasks during extreme weather conditions (Hot/Cold/Wet)

Experience

• Operator, Carpenter, Finisher, and/or Craftsperson with heavy highway experience: 3+ Years (Required)
• Superintendent of Commerical Concrete and Site Work Role: 5+ Years
• Heavy Highway Construction Leadership Role: 5+ Years
• Must be competent at managing concrete paving activities.
• HCSS Application (Preferred)

Education

• Ability to interpret written and/or oral orders, sketches, and blueprints/plans to coordinate activities.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Proficient at reading, writing, basic addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to manage aspects of construction - scheduling, cost, safety, and quality.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)
