Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB.ORG), a division of Innovative Blood Resources (www.innovativebloodresources.org), has been saving and sustaining lives since 1968. Operating 4 donor centers and conducting dozens of blood drives each month, we are proud to be an independent nonprofit that supplies over 20 area hospitals and clinics with life-saving blood—from our community, for our community.
Responsibilities:
Summary:
This position performs routine manufacturing of blood components based on the capabilities of the site. This includes processing whole blood to create packed red blood cells and plasma products, processing apheresis red blood cells, special blood products and application of final product labels after lot release. The Tech I will be profiecient in the proper use, maintenance, and quality control of processing equipment. The Tech I accurately and concurrently documents manufacturing records, strictly adheres to standard operating procedures and is competent in the usage of El Dorado Donor (EDD) and MasterControl (MC). All work processes are performed and ducumented according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and within the guidelines of accrediting organizations (FDA, AABB, Green Cross, CLIA, etct.).

Schedule:
Flexible schedule needed. Monday-Saturday, variable schedule between 8:00am -8:30pm with occasional later shifts depending on the blood drive schedule. Evening and weekend shift differentials available.

Job Responsibilities:

Component Laboratory Technician I responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Receive blood collections, fold blood bags, temperature and quality control boxes
  • Process blood collections
  • Process research, source, and special blood products
  • Proper use of tube sealers, centrifuges, expressors, blast freezers, sterile connection devices, platelet rotators, general storage equipment, scales, etc.
  • Obtain samples from blood components for hematocrits, percent red cell recoveries, etc. and perform volume comparisons
  • Order, receive and restock laboratory supplies
  • Respond to storage device temperature alarms
  • Label blood products
  • Understand good laboratory practice and cGMP requirements
  • Competent in systems IBR use
  • Prepare packed donor testing tubes for shipment
  • Run end of day reports

Qualifications:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent

Physical
Must be able to stand and walk most of the shift
Lift 50lbs
Hand/eye coordination, visual acuity

Preferred
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or general science
Experience working in a component production or clinical laboratory
Laboratory manufacturing experience using cGMP
Customer Service
