Community Resource Advocate – JumpStart Program

Are you looking for rewarding work as part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team? As a Community Service Advocate in our JumpStart Program, you would actively link program participants to needed government benefits, community resources and help them obtain essential goods and services. JumpStart removes barriers to achieve positive outcomes for the health and well-being of marginalized, disadvantaged, and underserved City of Albany residents. This is a short-term, highly impactful service delivery model with a goal of resolving referrals within six to eight weeks by providing a “JumpStart” to those who need it most!

What you can expect as a Community Service Advocate for JumpStart:

• Effectively interface with government offices, social service providers and other community resources to actively link clients to services, assist in their application for benefits, and to obtain concrete goods.

• Maintain a caseload of 10-12 clients and meet service needs within a six-to-eight-week time frame.

• Become familiar with government benefits, community and neighborhood resources, and develop partnerships with agencies for client services.

• Receive referrals and collaborate with referral source, as needed.

• Rapidly engage clients and complete intake paperwork and maintain positive communication with clients and provide active assistance including transportation, attending meetings, complete applications, etc.

• Advocate for clients with partner providers, as well as troubleshoot barriers that impede or otherwise negatively impact the ability to access services/resources.

• Assist clients by providing education, information and support.

• Complete documentation and data collection, as needed.

• Participate in and contribute to team meetings. Attend relevant program development activities, trainings, and conferences.

• Opportunity for flexible hybrid schedule working remotely one to two days per week.

Your Education and Experience

• Associate degree preferred, or High School Diploma or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience required.

• Requires a valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
