Position Title: Community Relations Director

Reports to: President | CEO

Position Classification: Exempt, Full-time, Permanent


POSITION SUMMARY: Texas Center for Arts+ Academics seeks someone passionate about connecting students to the arts! The Community Relations Director serves as the lead of our after-school and summer conservatory programs (Dance, Art, and Music), coordinates student recruitment for two top-tier charter schools (Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts and Texas School of the Arts), and is the liaison for the alumni association. This is a senior leadership position in one of the largest art-education nonprofits in the state of Texas (don't get bogged down in the title, we can come up with a better one with your help!) As a face of the organization, this individual must act with discretion, judgment, tact, and poise, demonstrating great passion for our mission to the organization and greater community. We'd love for you to have an arts background and have positive connections in the Fine Arts community of greater Tarrant County.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Be accountable to all key stakeholders, including potential students, alumni students, families, donors, volunteers, the general public, staff and faculty, board, et al.
  • Identify, expand, and strengthen relationships with outside constituent base, focusing on long-term relationship development
  • Serves as main point of contact for residential communities, schools, and other community partners
  • Effectively manage relationships with internal and external community members
  • Act as face of the organization for visiting schools/groups, promoting a welcoming environment
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of year-round masterclasses and workshops
  • Collaborate with Development and Communications Office on funding/marketing priorities for the coming year, communicating in a timely manner
  • Design and administer summer programs
  • Responsible for preparing and managing budgets for summer programs and conservatories
  • Maintain accurate database and files, including conservatory paperwork and tuition
  • Demonstrate great passion for organization's mission to the organization and community
    • Assist with the development and management of the Community Relations annual budget
  • Oversee, advise, mentor and support all conservatory staff
  • Prepare reports upon request
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate year end Dance Conservatory recital
  • Support program initiatives as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit, community relations, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A Community Relations position in Public Charter Schools or a field in Fine Arts is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in proactive problem-solving, strategic thinking, creative resourcefulness, prioritizing and meeting deadlines, balancing concurrent projects, and exercising good judgment.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and composure to adapt to changing deadlines
  • A genuine passion for community service, and a broad knowledge of non-profit organizations.
  • Keen attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multitask, remain organized and demonstrate a high level of initiative and energy both individually and as a team member within a fast-paced and performance-based environment.
  • Possess an uncompromised ability to protect the confidentiality/privacy of others and company documents and records.
  • Able to contribute to and build a healthy, productive work environment with positive relationships, and follow through on duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, project management, public speaking and presenting, excellent verbal and written communication, MS Office, able to work nights/weekends as needed
  • Have an understanding of nonprofit and philanthropic structures, interest in organizational development and nonprofit administration, database management, fine arts pedagogy

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships
