Job Summary:

This position will support two projects. The first project is a Texas state funded program that provides evidence based posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment and primary prevention family services to military and veteran families following trauma and throughout military related transitions. The second project is a DOD-funded research study designed to evaluate a forgiveness-focused intervention on the treatment of chronic anger and aggression for military service members and veterans who have experienced military-related betrayal.

This individual will serve as a vital member of our team and will receive training in clinical and research management, outreach and recruitment, implementation, and program evaluation. This individual will interact closely with military service members, veterans, families with children, other support staff, clinicians, and researchers.

This individual will provide assistance in performing assigned and delegated tasks in support of clinical and research projects. Responsibilities include assisting in the recruitment, collection, management, evaluation, and interpretation of data for clinical research and program evaluation. The coordinator provide briefings of STRONG STAR services to the community, facilitate and promote engagement and retention of participants in the program, and distribute pre- and post-program surveys. For our Strong Families program, some meetings with families may occur in families’ homes. This position requires accommodating families’ schedules, including some evening appointments. This position requires a personal vehicle to accommodate travel to local military-related events. All travel will be reimbursed. Preferred candidates will have experience working within a mental healthcare system, especially working with military personnel, veterans, or children and families. Fluency in Spanish is highly valued. This position is located in Killen, Texas on post Fort Hood (one hour north of Austin, Texas).

Job Duties:

  • Organizes and participates in community forums, health fairs, conferences and related training throughout the region.


  • Coordinates educational, cultural, or recreational services to the community.


  • Provides education/training resources or assistance with community programs through calls, distribution of surveys, scheduling of appointments, or participation in meetings.


  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of activities and community outreach data for reporting/auditing purposes and assists with monitoring program expenses.


  • Coordinates implementation of healthcare outreach efforts for designated region and maintains current point of contact database for hospitals and healthcare facilities.


  • Serves as liaison between community programs and the institution.


  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Education:

Bachelor's degree in related field is required.

Experience:

Two (2) years related experience is required.
