Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time Communications Equipment Technician II in San Diego, CA.

Troubleshoot, align, repair, and test external communications equipment using the following test equipment: oscilloscope (O-scope), multi-meter, spectrum analyzer, frequency counter, communications analyzer, megger, two-tone generator, and RF meter.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots, aligns, repairs, and tests HF (2-30 MHz) equipment.
  • Provides Navy Enlisted Classification Code (NEC) 1420 (Surface HF Communications System Maintenance Technician) and supports for work on HF radios, receivers, amplifiers, and couplers.
  • Troubleshoots, disassembles, repairs, reassembles, and tests SRA-49, SRA-56, SRA-57, SRA-58, URA-38, and CU-2475 couplers; and AM-7317 and AM-6534 amplifiers
  • Troubleshoot, align, repair, and test UHF (300 MHz-3 GHz) equipment.
  • Provides NEC 1425 (Communications Equipment (WSC-3/UHF DAMA) Technician) expertise and supports work on UHF radios, amplifiers, and couplers.
  • Troubleshoots, disassembles, repairs, reassembles, and tests SRA-49, SRA-56, SRA-57, SRA-58, URA-38, and CU-2475 couplers; and AM-7317 and AM-6534 amplifiers.
  • Conducts shipboard assessments, to include troubleshooting, aligning, performing minor repairs, and providing training to ships’ force on proper alignment procedures.
  • Communicates with ships’ force regarding equipment requiring additional in-depth troubleshooting and repairs required to be conducted in the shop.
  • Transports parts and equipment using government vehicles to and from a ship.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience
  • Ability to read schematics and blue prints
  • Ability to read technical manuals and repair standards
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written instructions, MRC cards or drawings
  • Possess a current US driver’s license
  • Possess an active DOD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Holds NEC 1420 and 1425 qualifications

ADA Notations:

  • Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise
  • Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships)
  • Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight
  • Office, warehouse, laboratory, pier side, shipboard
  • Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud
