Position Overview

This position is responsible for is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and ensuring final diagnoses and procedure codes stated by practicing providers are valid codes. The Medical Coding Coordinator accurately codes all diagnostic imaging and provider services to ensure proper reimbursement. Finally, this position provides education to the providers and clinical staff to ensure proper completion of Electronic Health Records and proper assignment of ICD-10-CDM, HCPCS and CPT codes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supply correct ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and CPT codes for related diagnoses, procedures and/or services
  • Accurately follow coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies
  • Review charges and correct all coding errors according to physician documentation
  • Work in conjunction with Accounts Receivable Coordinators on follow up and resolution of coding related denials and rejections including recommendation of new/updated coding edits
  • Participate in and assist with audits to capture lost charges and determine the accuracy of billing as necessary
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of coding and regulatory compliance standards to accurately assign codes for appropriate reimbursement of healthcare services

Requirements:

Required

  • Prior medical coding experience (2+ years)
  • Radiation Oncology Certified Coder (ROCC) certification
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records systems
  • High school diploma
  • Strong communication skills – both orally and in writing
  • Detail oriented

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of Availity, Gateway and/or Mosaiq
  • Prior experience working in a radiation oncology practice

Hours: Full-time; Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
