Outpatient Therapist Job Description for LCSW or LMSW-Conditional Clinical

A Life Compass, PLLC outpatient therapist assists children, adolescents and adults in identifying a mental health diagnosis by collecting life story information through a bio-psychosocial assessment. Developing a treatment plan to work on identifying goals. Weekly therapy session to address identified goals.

Abiding by the policy and procedures of A Life’s Compass, PLLC and the State of Maine specially section 65.

Providing therapy to clients and their families, in their developments of skills and strategies for dealing with their mental health, emotional or behavioral issue. To assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, process relationships with others, and making changes where necessary.

Prepare and maintain all required treatment records, including daily progress notes to be kept up to date and organized.

Act as the client’s advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems from a crisis situation. Evaluate clients safety both physical and mental conditions based on review of client information. Refer client and family to crisis evaluations when needed.

Meet with families, physicians, school personnel, probation, attorneys, and other interested parties to collect and exchange information necessary during treatment development.

Refer clients or family members to community resources or to other specialist for testing or needed services.

Provide therapy to family members if appropriate to assist them in understanding and dealing with and supporting clients.

Evaluate the effectiveness of therapy and clients progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined goals Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in client status.

Plan, organize and lead structured group of therapy for clients.

Arrange for discharge plan and create summaries.

Learn about new developments in your field by reading professional literature, attending courses trainings and seminars. Establishing and maintaining contact with other social services.

Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy. Make appropriate reports to the child abuse and neglect state agencies as needed.

Review with client all medications, contact physician as needed.

Plan and conduct programs to prevent substance abuse, nicotine use, to improve community health and counseling services.

Maintain good standing with State of Maine licensure to practice therapy. Report all and any infractions immediately to your supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,649.67 - $54,921.49 per year
