Clinical Support Specialist

Location: Joliet, IL

Program or Services: Network 9 / Outpatient Services

Schedule: Part Time

Salary: $35,000- $37,000

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction and immediate supervision of Homeless Support Team (HST) Director, the Clinical Support Specialist completes paperwork and meets individual and program billing goals. The Clinical Support Specialist also establishes relationships with local landlords. Refer participants to community support services that they eligible for. The Clinical Support Specialist contributes to a positive, therapeutic environment that allows program participants to achieve their stated goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Below are a list of the primary duties and responsibilities of this position

  • The primary responsibility involves providing life skills training in order to remain housed and avoid further homelessness.
  • Assists people referred to find appropriate housing
  • Completes required paperwork and maintains service records
  • Identifies and connects with potential landlords
  • Provide community resource information and services
  • Completes required intake paperwork with new referrals
  • Completes quarterly and annual assessments
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Transport individuals in HST program to appointments.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to make independent decisions and problem solve
  • Able to deal tactfully with staff, program participants, landlords, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Able to contribute to positive morale
  • Able to seek out new resources and be willing to connect program participants to those resources.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strongly self-motivated

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
  • Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
  • Be able to complete deep knee squats
  • Be able to push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Operate motor vehicles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
  • Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, or related field with at least 5 years is preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
