Job Duties:

The Clinical Physician Investigator will fulfill the role of Principal Investigator (PI) or Sub-Investigator (Sub-I) as the study dictates. This position is responsible for ensuring that the protocol is conducted to plan and in accordance with all applicable regulations. The Physician will conduct clinical projects and trials while overseeing subjects, clinical research staff, and data management.

  • Serves as a Principal Investigator responsible for protecting the rights, safety, and welfare of all subjects
  • Provides both emergent and non-emergent medical care to subjects
  • Assesses Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events, as needed
  • Responds and reacts with urgency to the Emergency Response Team when a code is called (when present in the facility)
  • Administers the Informed Consent process to potential subjects in accordance with site SOP guidelines
  • Attends study-related meetings (i.e., Pre-Study, Site Initiation, Investigator, etc.)
  • Reviews and understands all assigned protocols and study procedures with expertise
  • Creates protocol synopses with key relevant protocol details
  • Provides guidance to staff/recruitment and addresses protocol-related enrollment issues
  • Discusses medical and/or protocol-related issues with the medical monitor
  • Provides training on all assigned protocols, including Post-SIV and study procedures.
  • Approves the Delegation of Authority Log and delegates qualified and sufficiently trained staff
  • Ability to be present for initial dosing
  • Conducts physical exams
  • Reviews labs and EKGs
  • Assesses out-of-range vitals, AEs, and SAE
  • Manages follow-ups for safety issues and reports diseases to appropriate agencies
  • Confirms subject’s eligibility before study enrollment and ensures subjects maintain eligibility requirements throughout the course of the study

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of clinical research experience (preferred, but not required)
  • Doctorate (required)
  • MD/DO license (required)
  • Valid Illinois State License
  • Excellent communication and proven time management skills
  • Able to utilize word processing, database, spreadsheet, and specialized software
