The CHCN has an opening for the position of Clinical Director. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Clinical Director works collaboratively with internal CHCN staff and external partner agencies to provide comprehensive, coordinated, primary health care for our community, encompassing primary care, health promotion and illness prevention.

As a member of the Senior Leadership team, the position is also responsible for operational planning that supports the organization’s strategic goals and objectives, and for providing policy recommendations to the Executive Director. To succeed in this role, the successful candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will also be an exceptional communicator, with a strong understanding of budgeting and performance evaluation processes as well as demonstrated experience and success on a leadership team.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provides leadership and direction to the Primary Health Care, Counselling and Diabetes Education staff and programs.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the above noted teams including human resource and budget management.
  • Maintains and develops collaborative relationships with internal and external partners. Participates and represents the organization on identified committees, working groups and ad hoc groups with external stakeholders, community partners, the Board of Directors, as well as internal groups as required.
  • Ensures programs and services are rooted in a client and community centered philosophy.
  • Ensures that quality assurance and risk management issues are identified and mitigated. Leads clinical processes and policy development for the organization including accreditation related monitoring and planning.
  • Ensures targets and benchmarks are realistic, achievable and on track. Responsible for collection, monitoring and reporting of same.
  • Builds an inter-professional team that works in collaborative practice
  • Leads and participates in the selection, ongoing development, performance management and promotion of staff within the department as required including on-boarding of new staff and development of training and education plans and associated budgets.
  • Identifies and brings forward to the Senior Leadership team community health issues, provides recommendations and leadership in the development of strategies to address identified issues. Develops and implements strategies to ensure communications between Primary Health Care staff and other areas of the CHCN are clear, open, and timely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates:

  • Strong leadership, communication, verbal, listening and writing skills
  • Sound assessment and problem solving skills
  • Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional links with other agencies, community organizations and funders.
  • Sensitivity to and awareness of cultural, racial and socio-economic diversity within the community
  • Strong understanding of a population health approach and the determinants of health
  • Experience and familiarity with TELUS Practice Solutions software is considered an asset

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years progressive experience in health system leadership
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in health and medical administration attained from a degree from an accredited university or through an equivalent level of experience
  • Related experience in program development and evaluation strongly preferred

The Community Health Centres of Northumberland offers a competitive compensation package which includes HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan).
