JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Staff position is responsible for coordinating and implementing care plans for patients under the direct supervision of a health care provider.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Work with members of the health care team to coordinate patient care services, including preparation of patients for examination or treatment, gathering of information such as reason for visit and related patient information. Ensure accurate documentation is maintained, relay instructions to patients, schedule follow-up appointments, and help ensure timely patient flow.

Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures. Document findings in the electronic medical record.

Collect and/or assist providers in collection of specimens, as required, using appropriate protocols. Complete requisitions, label and route specimens according to clinic protocol.

Adhere to infection control standards including, but not limited to, hand hygiene, use of PPE, isolation of patient with known infectious disease, and equipment disinfection/sterilization.

Assist with special procedures and examinations following appropriate protocols such as infection control, universal protocol, and patient identification.

Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stock assigned rooms/cupboards and insure par levels of supplies are maintained. Check and complete required logs and equipment including refrigerator logs and other required checks.

Coordinate with various service providers throughout the clinic to ensure the fulfillment of the patients’ needs.

Respond to patient messages and requests for refills in accordance with clinic protocol.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of patient care standards and practices.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.

Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

Skill in planning, organizing, and time management.

Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) software, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

Skill in managing multiple priorities and problem solving.

Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet established goals and objectives.

Ability to maintain high levels of professional and personal integrity.

Ability to convey professional demeanor and sound judgment in dealing with patients’ care, protection of patient privacy, and confidentiality.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to act as a good representative of the company.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Must maintain active LPN license. American Heart Association BLS certification required. Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a LPN, utilizing electronic Health Records (EHR) required. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting, Family Practice or Internal Medicine preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent standing, walking, and computer work. This position allows employee to moderately vary physical position or activity for comfort.
  • Must be able to:

Stand 75% or longer of an 8-hour workday.

Sit 10% of an 8-hour workday.

Walk 15% or longer of an 8-hour workday.

  • Requires ability to lift and maneuver up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires employee to: bend, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder level occasionally and twist occasionally.
  • Requires repetitive use of hands for: simple grasping, fine manipulation, computer use.
  • Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
