POSITION SUMMARY: The Division of Student Life; Recreational Services is seeking a Climbing Wall Attendant to check in climbers, supervise the wall, instruct climbing lessons, administer safety checks, risk management control, assist with LLS climbing classes and maintain a safe climbing area. May also assist at the Outdoor Rental Center.


DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Knowledge of all policies and procedures of facilities, programs, equipment, and operations
  • Responds to all building emergencies (accidents/injuries, inclement weather, etc)
  • General understanding of the operations of Touch the Earth as well as other Recreational Services departments
  • Greet climbers while checking them into the climbing area
  • Assist to keep facilities/equipment in excellent condition while also providing great customer service to our members
  • Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals
  • Promotes a safe, clean, functional, and marketable facility
  • Performs other work as assigned

POSITION BASICS:

Hourly Rate/Range: $8.50


WORK SCHEDULE:

Hours: 6-20 hours/week

Shift: Shift times vary between 6 am – 9 pm

Work Week: May work weekends

Additional Hours: As needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a current Top Rope Approval Card, preferably from the UI
  • Previous climbing experience
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations
  • Mandatory attendance at training meetings
  • Strong problem-solving skills and good judgement
  • A passion for the outdoors
