(230002PH)- Collaborating with other BWC Claims Directors to outline and cultivate statewide responsibility & consistency among case load management.
- Involved in statewide initiatives and projects to improve service delivery and carries out required process improvements.
- Effectively communicates with internal and external customers to provide information and understanding of BWC initiatives and operations.
- Serves as a positive image as a representative of BWC and establishes & maintains beneficial working relationships with all customers.
- Partners with Human Resources for staff management and development; including but not limited to hiring, promotions, transfers, training, disciplinary actions, and reviewing employee performance evaluations.
- Ensures claims staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and resources to successfully execute BWC's mission and vision to serve Ohio's employers and injured workers.
- Cultivates a positive, supportive, and safe work environment for employees.
- Performs any administrative staff duty as operational need arises within the claims office.

Qualifications We Are Looking For

Bachelor's degree in business management, or related field
-
At least five years' experience in leadership role
Knowledge of: policies & procedures related to claims operations, risk, safety & hygiene, loss prevention and managed care; state & federal laws governing workers’ compensation; management; labor relations; manpower planning; public relations; government structure & process (BWC)*; interviewing; BWC laws*; budgeting; training; BWC programs*.
Skill in: management of diverse claims services staff; leadership; communicating with diverse audiences; directing change; creativity & innovation; operation of a PC.
Ability to: interpret extensive variety of technical & complex material in verbal & written forms; prepare & deliver professional presentations before specialized audiences & public; develop complex reports pertaining to claims, risk, safety & hygiene, & managed care; handle highly confidential & sensitive matters with all contacts; strategize for optimum efficiency; practice innovation & be creative in a government environment; delegate appropriately; identify & manage staff performance variances; direct programs; use statistical analysis; analyze customer satisfaction.
