Business Overview

Corporate & Investment Bank Treasury (CIBT) is a critical function within CIB Finance & Business Management. It is responsible for managing the liquidity and capital positions of the investment banking businesses, establishing transparent and market-based funds transfer pricing policy and developing methodologies and metrics to improve the collateral and liquidity risk management capabilities of the CIB.

Team Overview

Within CIBT, the CIB Resolution & Recovery Team (CIB R&R) is responsible for the governance, oversight and effective implementation of CIB-related resolution and recovery deliverables, which form part of the firm's global R&R submissions to the U.S. regulators. In addition, the Team coordinates across CIB stakeholders to prepare ad hoc responses to regulatory requests. From a regional perspective, the Team is also responsible for overseeing the delivery of local R&R submissions across EMEA, APAC and LATAM, as well as for related local regulatory interactions. CIB R&R partners extensively with CIB sub-lines of business and other functional areas to oversee, control, and deliver on the R&R program of work.

Job Description

Resolution & Recovery Background

The Dodd-Frank Act requires systemically important financial institutions, including JPMorgan, to submit a Group Resolution Plan ("the Title I Resolution Plan") to the US Regulatory Agencies (the Federal Reserve Bank and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp) every two years. This submission alternates between a full submission of all required elements and a targeted plan comprising only core elements. The Resolution Plan needs to demonstrate how JPM would be resolved in an orderly way in the event of the failure of the group. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) also requires the submission of a separate Resolution Plan for the firm's Insured Depository Institution (IDI) - JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A on a specified cadence. Recovery Planning Guidelines issued by the FRB and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (the OCC) require the submission of an annual Group Recovery Plan, which demonstrates how the firm would recover if it were to suffer significant decreases in capital and liquidity as a result of a severe crisis event.

Each of these plans is a strategic priority for the firm.

Position Description:

This is a highly visible and cross-functional role, providing a unique opportunity to drive key large-scale regulatory deliverables for the CIB and to establish a solid platform, profile, and brand. The position involves significant opportunity to engage with and present to senior management and requires effective communication skills to manage these interactions.

As a Team member, you will help manage the Resolution and Recovery agenda as well as be responsible for the execution of an array of deliverables within the CIB. You will contribute to and/or lead regular sessions with these stakeholders to provide relevant CIB updates and understand key takeaways and next steps. You will be responsible for driving high standards and best practices across the various key deliverables associated with plan development.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Develop a deep understanding of Resolution & Recovery planning processes, with focus on CIB deliverables.
    • Become familiar with CIB inputs and identify areas of improvement.
    • Liaise with CIB and other stakeholders to identify inconsistencies or improvements across the plans.
  • Coordinate amongst the line of business and support functions involved in the development and production of the CIB Resolution and Recovery Plans.
    • Lead CIB Working Group sessions.

  • Develop and implement a BAU operating model for Plan submissions.
    • Establish metrics and monitor progress of R&R deliverables.
    • Refine the governance and escalation framework.
  • Lead ad hoc meetings with key stakeholders to drive forward the CIB R&R agenda.
  • Collaborate with team members where agendas and objectives intersect.
  • Develop materials for presentations to the CIB R&R Lead and other senior mgmt. forums.

Qualifications:
