Job description
Clare is seeking a highly driven, self-motivated and process-oriented Chief of Staff to support our CEO in building the world’s best paint brand. In this role, you’ll work as our CEO’s right hand, supporting day-to-day company operations and the execution of key business priorities. You’ll be an influencer throughout our organization, working closely with the larger team to improve organizational operations and ensure alignment and accountability around company goals and critical business priorities. Startups are full of ambiguity and you’ll be a great fit for this one if you’re not only comfortable operating in ambiguity, but can easily identify opportunities to bring clarity and build processes and frameworks to enable scale. You’ll also be a great fit for this role if you’re a skilled executor, highly organized, comfortable wearing many hats and can juggle multiple projects like a boss. This role is remote but New York based candidates are strongly preferred.

What you’ll do

As Chief of Staff, your role will focus on two key areas:

CEO Support
  • Serve as a right hand and thought partner to our CEO, helping her work more efficiently and maximize bandwidth.
  • Serve as a proxy for the CEO, as necessary, in meetings and dialogue with internal and external partners, helping to drive key strategic and operational initiatives forward.
  • Support CEO with investor relations & other matters related to the Clare board and stakeholders.
  • Support with hiring, team-building and culture-building activities.
  • Support with light analytics and reporting.
  • Lead and own the end-to-end execution of special projects.

Organizational Operations
  • Support day-to-day company operations, working closely with leadership and the larger team to improve organizational operations; and ensure alignment and accountability around company goals and critical business priorities.
  • Help the Clare team work together more effectively through the design, document and implementation of processes that will help lay the foundation for scale.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and drive organizational execution, managing workstreams, timelines and ensuring project success.
  • Manage the agendas for and run key internal internal meetings, tracking next steps and ensuring accountability for deliverables.
  • Own and manage the Clare weekly, monthly and quarterly business review and the internal reporting process.
  • Guide our OKR process, ensuring alignment and accountability across the organization.

Who you are
  • A passionate problem solver — You’re motivated by challenges both large and unfamiliar and can confidently tackle any problem thrown your way with a ‘roll-up-your-sleeves’, ‘no task is too small’ attitude. You love putting your critical thinking skills to work and developing creative solutions to make the impossible possible!
  • An enthusiastic go-getter — You’re excited to join a company still in its early stages where you can help drive the success of the business and tackle challenges big and small.
  • An agile thinker — You’re equally comfortable with big picture strategic planning and the small details of tactical execution and have no trouble switching between macro and micro views.
  • Highly organized — You’re organized, detail-oriented and can effectively juggle multiple projects and competing priorities like a boss. You love creating order from chaos, and are adept at improving processes to enable workflow efficiency.
  • Highly entrepreneurial — You’re a self-starter who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo, is undeterred by ambiguity and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Moreover, you have a bias for action and know how to get sh*t done.
  • An excellent project manager — You’re methodical and process-oriented, capable of turning ideas into action plans and owning projects from end-to end. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills enable you to seamlessly manage up, down and laterally in moving projects forward.
  • Results-driven — You measure success by quantifiable impact and outcomes, rather than output, are highly accountable and feel ownership over the company's success.
  • Highly curious — You’re intellectually curious with the ability to learn and get up to speed on new areas quickly. You’re unintimidated when operating outside of your comfort zone and champion continual learning and improvement both personally and professionally.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success in a founder, management consulting, Chief of Staff or an organizational operations role, preferably within a scaling company.
  • Experience within an omnichannel retail, e-commerce or consumer startup environment.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a bias for action and getting s**t done.
  • Outstanding organization, planning, project management, and prioritization skills.
  • Proven track record of successful management and execution of cross functional-projects.
  • A strong leader who can comfortably manage up, down, sideways and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • A confident self-starter who is adept in problem solving, comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with and operates with high-degree of accountability.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Top notch presentation skills.
  • MBA preferred
  • A positive attitude is a must!
  • Commitment to our mission and strong desire to help build an industry-transforming company from the ground-up.
