SUMMARY:

Assists with supervision of the marine department and assist Captain with daily operation of vessel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of all shipboard systems.

Maintains proper inventory of supplies and spare parts.

Ensures appropriate levels are maintained in all shipboard tanks.

Maintains engine room logs and work history logs for all machinery.

Ensures a safe working environment is maintained.

Oversees assistant engineers in daily operations and assigns duties as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises Oilers.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES/JOB DIMENSIONS:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Horseshoe from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to Horseshoe disciplinary action procedures up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Horseshoe policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of Company facilities. Employees who violate Company policies and procedures are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 21 years of age or older.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

U.S. Coast Guard License with necessary tonnage and scope for the vessel assigned to

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and analyze common and technical journals and marine reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and/or co-workers. Ability to respond to emergency situations that may arise on the ship.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Presents oneself as a credit to the company and encourages others to do the same.

Must be able to understand and trouble shoot all shipboard systems.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
