Scope and General Purpose
The main responsibilities of the Chief Engineer include: Supervise the implementation of all property and
equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities and assist in the administration of the department in compliance with all corporate standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to
protect assets, residents, guests and employees.

Essential Duties

  • Practices customer service behaviors, such as listening, initiative, responsiveness, cheerfulness,

accommodation, courtesy, honesty, and professionalism

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills and helps ensure optimum communication between all shifts,

departments, and management

  • Makes decisions in the best interests of the property and in compliance with all applicable policies and

procedures

  • Approaches all encounters with guests and colleagues in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Remains alert of complaints and/or unsatisfied guests and responds appropriately to ensure guest

satisfaction

  • Oversee the functionality and safety of the facility,

including the physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical system/s, heating and cooling systems, life
safety systems and grounds in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations

  • Conducts walkthroughs and visually inspects quality of work. Directs team and outside contractors in tasks

according to performance and productivity standards

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, development, discipline, and supervision of all engineering staff
  • Directs general construction and the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical and

architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety

  • Assigns, verifies and documents the completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property

maintenance management system

  • Communicates with city/county/state officials to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, to

coordinate required inspections and to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards to
protect the well-being of all guests and team members

  • Assists in the execution of capital projects and property rehabilitations
  • Acts as a liaison between hotel and vendors to review latest in hotel technology and products.
  • Abides by all rules of Hawkeye Hotels and the brand
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, safety meetings, training classes, etc
  • Performs all other duties assigned

1. Knowledge/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Qualified in facility maintenance and management
- Previous supervisory experience is required
- Recognized certifications in regard to maintenance is desirable

2. Availability
- Must be able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

3. Communication Skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak professionally in English
- Professional communication with difficult people/situations
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, committees,
suppliers, members, and employees

4. Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and, divide
- Possess problem solving skills, attention to detail and execute tasks flawlessly

5. Technical Skills
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Must complete training or certification required for the position
- Ability to assess any given situation, taking into account cost, time management, company resources and
company integrity to make strong and valuable decisions. Ensure timely and efficient responses to requests.

- Requires the ability to bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, kneel, stand, walk and stretch. Requires the mobility to be

- Specific vision abilities required by the job close and distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Able to stand/walk for long periods of time in excess of 2 hours without sitting

Computer Skills The employee must have the ability to learn and be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Power Point) as well as other programs identified by the company.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
