Job Summary


The Director of Change Management plans and directs the activities associated with organizational change management and change adoption for large scale, high impact system-wide and system office strategic initiatives involving the integration of people, process, and technology. This includes developing comprehensive change management plans for targeted projects and/or initiatives as well as coordinating, directing and/or executing change management activities and strategies. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert providing consultation, guidance, tools and resources to assist others in supporting smaller scale change management initiatives. The Director of Change Management does not formally direct the work of employees but will recommend coordination of various tasks and activities performed by peers and/or team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a USG change management strategy, approach and framework to guide organizational change management projects and initiatives.
  • Provide change management expertise, advice and consultation on USG-wide implementations and other USG-wide projects by applying a structured methodology.
  • Partner with functional business owners, USO Project Management team and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive actionable change management plans which integrate holistic change management strategies including sponsorship model, feedback analysis, resistance management approach, and other change management strategies and tactics (such as conducing impact analysis, assessing change readiness and identifying key stakeholders).
  • Partner with Project Management team to integrate change management plans with overall project management plans.
  • Perform and oversee change management activities for Tier I projects managed directly by Strategic Implementation.
  • Collaborate with System Office divisions, USG institutions and external constituencies to recommend and implement change management solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver Change Management training for USG staff and institutional administrators, faculty or staff.
  • Prepare reports, analysis, and recommendations which will support evaluating success and effectiveness.
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress to ensure quality, adherence to timelines and other established criteria.
  • Assist in recommending, developing, implementing and/or overseeing change management related processes and procedures.
  • Where applicable, lead and coordinate the work of various groups and committees that may be convened in support of change management plans.
  • Manage the data gathering, analysis and performance measurement of programs. Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of services provided through review of reports and statistical data.
  • Participate in annual planning process and other SI management activities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, HR, MPA, MBA or a related field
  • A minimum of five years of related change management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • PROSCI or comparable change management certification or ability to earn within a prescribed timeframe
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, tools, theories and/or practices.
  • Knowledge of Board of Regents policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job related software programs.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Skill in written communication with a broad range of constituencies.
  • Skill in collaborating with and through multiple constituents.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving including root cause analysis
  • Skill in interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in developing and delivering presentations
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work across all levels of the organization and to develop effective working relationships.
