Title: Certified Surgical Technologist

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, primarily 8-hour shifts, between 6:00 am - 5:00 pm

On-call rotation for after-hours, weekends, and holidays

Position Responsibilities:

• Assists surgeons as directed in surgical procedures; anticipating their needs for surgical instruments and supplies
• Assists in instrument, equipment, and supply cleaning and preparation for sterilization
• Participating in call duties as scheduled
• Working in clinic with providers and clinical staff
• Responsible for drawing up and assisting with injections
• Responsible for removing staples and sutures and performing dressing changes
• Responsible for ordering x-rays, along with splint and cast applications and removals
• Educating patients and their caregivers regarding specific care as instructed by the physician
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required
• One year of prior orthopedic surgical experience is preferred
• Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled
• Ability to travel between ORA clinics and area hospitals as needed
