Kingdom Pathways is currently looking for a detail orientated individual to work as a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRS) in a part time or full time capacity in our overtly Christian Homeless Outreach.

Peer Recovery Support Specialist
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRS) draws upon their personal growth experience to carry the message of hope and recovery to individuals who are currently enrolled in treatment services. Personal experience in substance use disorder recovery is required. By offering outreach, encouragement and support, the Peer Recovery Support Specialist cultivates and secures a connection with the enrolled individual, while teaching personal responsibility and serving as a mentor and role model. As part of their job duties, the Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRS) will be asked to assist the homeless client towards independence, including actively assisting the client in engagement in employment and education, which is proven to assist in reducing chemical use when purposeful communication engagement occurs. The Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRS) must be able to maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPPA requirements.

Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRS) Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to access resources to obtain housing, employment, education, and advocacy services
  • Provide education about and attend self-help groups, obtaining sponsorship, and assisting clients in finding recovery support meetings that accommodate their schedules and child care needs.
  • Role model behavior that is consistent with and supportive to people in recovery from substance abuse, such behavior will include upholding ethical standards of the program and reliable attendance.
  • Maintain confidential client records. Process client record requests
  • Perform other routine support tasks, including filing, photocopying, answering telephones, and compiling statistical reports
  • Attend weekly clinical staff meetings
  • Understand and follow emergency fire and weather policies and procedures
  • Attain, maintain and promote a positive, safe, harmonious, productive and challenging work environment
  • Receive ongoing supervision in areas specific to the recovery peer’s role by an LADC or other qualified individual
  • Provide culturally sensitive and relevant services to diverse clients and their families
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Required Qualifications:

  • Minnesota Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license
  • Peer Recovery Specialist must be free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to be responsive in an effective manner, while maintaining a warm and supportive atmosphere
