We are looking for a full time Certified Nursing Assistant. C.N.A. are scheduled to work every other weekend and major/minor holidays. Weekday and Weekend differential pay is given for evening, nights, and all shifts on weekends.


Reports To: Director of Nursing

Location: River City Rehab Center, 15480 Max Leggett Parkway, Jacksonville, FL 32218

Status: Non- Exempt- Hourly

Eligibility Factors
Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in good standing is required. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Candidates are required to attain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days after hire. Experience performing the essential functions of the position is desirable. State background check standards must be maintained as a condition of continued employment in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapters 435 and 408.809 and Florida Administrative Code 59A-35.090.

Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide direct care to residents, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures and report resident needs and concerns to a licensed nurse.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess resident skin condition
  • Apply Ace bandages, TED stockings, splints, slings, and braces
  • Report residents' refusal of treatment
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ensure residents' water pitchers are clean, filled, and available to residents
  • Serve between meal and bedtime snacks
  • Ensure nurses' call system is within easy reach of residents
  • Lift/move resident
  • Give back rubs
  • Assist residents with dressing/undressing
  • Check food to ensure conformance with residents' dietary requirements
  • Report changes in residents' conditions to supervisor
  • Observe disoriented/comatose residents and report to supervisor
  • Monitor seriously ill residents
  • Conduct resident rounds
  • Report changes in resident conditions
  • Observe/identify residents' problems/concerns and report to supervisor
  • Take, record, and evaluate vital signs
  • Weigh residents
  • Greet/escort/orient new resident
  • Introduce new resident to roommate/other residents/staff, as appropriate
  • Make resident comfortable
  • Treat residents fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect
  • Maintain residents' privacy

  • Perform after meal care (remove trays, clean residents' hands/face/clothing, take to bathroom, brush teeth, clean dentures, etc.)

  • Explain/assist residents with food arrangements
  • Report changes in residents' eating habits
  • Notify supervisor of lost/missing residents
  • Report missing/illegible labels/MSDS to supervisor
  • Store residents' clothing
  • Report residents' complaints/grievances
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluid, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids
  • Assist residents with hair care functions
  • Report residents' allegations of abuse/mistreatment
  • Ensure implementation of Residents' Rights
  • Render immediate resident assistance
  • Answer resident call lights
  • Ensure residents are ready and on time for therapy, activity, and other appointments

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six months related experience preferred and/or training in direct service with older adults, or equivalent combination of education and experience. In accordance with state law, may need to possess current state certification and follow regulations to maintain license currency.

Knowledge of dementia particularly of the Alzheimer's type is helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to residents, residents' families, and other employees of the company. Ability to effectively communicate in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Basic CPR/First aid training

Fire safety training

Current nurse (C.N.A.) licensure issued by appropriate state licensing agency.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to bloodborne pathogens. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and toxic caustic chemicals. The environment is characteristic of a facility in which healthcare is provided to the frail elderly. The noise level is usually moderate. May be required to travel for group outings.
