Position Summary
At Meyer Ace Hardware, we believe our cashiers are an integral part of our Helpful Hardware Team! Our cashiers are responsible for providing customers with fast and friendly service at the cash register area. Other responsibilities may include managing shelves and inventory while maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the front of our store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide prompt and courteous customer service.
• Precisely and accurately handle cash, checks, and other types of payment.
• Be knowledgeable and actively participate in all sales promotions and other campaigns.
• Practice suggestive selling and build customer relations.
• Be aware of sales goals and performance against those goals.
• Actively encourage customers to join the Ace Rewards program and explain the benefits of joining
• Address customer complaints in a positive manner, work diligently to resolve any conflict and escalate to management when necessary.
• Front face and dust merchandise near register area.
• Work with store associates to make sure fast moving impulse items remain full and orderly
• Follow company policies and procedures for all transactions.
• Excuse yourself from the customer to put a phone call on hold after 3 rings.
• Perform regular cleaning of counter surfaces, store equipment, and other duties as assigned.
• Actively participate in store communication and directing associates for customer carry outs when appropriate.
• Leave the customer with a lasting impression of a friendly place with a helpful smile and invite the customer to come back and see us again soon.

Requirements

• Friendly and outgoing personality
• Exceptional customer service skills & the ability to help maintain a customer focused culture
• Ability to comfortably use a cash register, telephone, and other equipment as needed
• Ability to work as part of a team
• A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule of nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
