Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Customer Service
  • Greet customers-Smile, be friendly, and offer prompt service.
  • Inform customers about services available and assess the customer's need.
  • Stay up to date on all promotions and special offers.
  • Practice suggestive selling.
  • Answer phone according to policy.
  • Provide answers to product and payment related questions.
  • Bag merchandise if required or requested.
  • Accurately process sales and refunds using cash registers.
  • Be able to use different electronic equipment to provide customers with products or services.
  • Thank customer.
• Bookkeeping
  • Prepare a shift-change report at the completion of shift in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Properly clock in and out in accordance with the schedule posted.
  • If your shift report reflects a variance of $5.00 plus or minus, you must give a detailed explanation as to why on your shift report.
  • Proper sales and accounting of money orders during your shift.
  • All sales are rang up on the register.
• Housekeeping
  • Maintain a neat, tidy, and orderly work area.
  • Sweep, mop, and buff floors.
  • Clean shelving and racks.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms.
  • Clean cooler.
  • Clean gasoline islands and pumps.
  • Clean parking lot.
  • Empty trash inside store and on lot.
  • Check equipment and temperature.
• Stocking and Pricing
  • Stock items on shelf or racks.
  • Change syrup box or CO2 tanks for fountain drinks.
  • Keep fast food area stocked with coffee, tea, alligator ice, and condiments.
  • Rotate all stock and pull out-of-date merchandise off the shelf and store in designated area.
  • Price gun over any incorrect price tags and address with manager.
  • Look for any items in the store not tagged and address with manager.
• Security
  • Only one person responsible for a register at a time.
  • All monies must be counted in view of camera.
  • Ensuring location is opened and closed securely and timely.

Requirement of the Job

• Be able to read, understand, and write the English language at the eighth grade level.
• Be able to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level in order to be able to make change, complete shift reports, and account for a variety of products during vendor check-in.
• Be able to have sufficient visual acuity to check identification and process money orders.
• Be able to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash register and other equipment.
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry cases of milk cartons, soft drinks, beer, juice containers, and etc.
• Be able to stock shelves and coolers.
• Be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 15 lbs. and moving it to the fire area.
• Be able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
• Be able to climb a ladder and work off of it.
• Be able to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and lift and carry trash containers to place in an outside bin.
• Be able to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the store.
• Be able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 32 degrees up to 10 minutes at a time.
