Youth Co-Op, Inc., a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the social and economic conditions of youth, adults, families, refugees and immigrants in South Florida, is seeking a Case Manager for its Comprehensive Refugee Services (CRS) in Miami-Dade County.

Funded by the Florida Department of Children and Families, Office of Refugee Services, CRS provides social and economic integration services for refugees who have been in the US for less than five years. Services include employment coaching and placement, legal services, youth mentoring for academic and career success, as well as comprehensive case management to address a variety of complex needs.

Duties and Responsibilities Overview

Case Manager is responsible for providing vocational assessment, career counseling, including career laddering and short term training, and has thorough knowledge of refugee programs and services.

  • Assesses and screens clients referred to the program;
  • Responsible for making the final determination in deciding which clients are accepted into the program;
  • Administers appropriate vocational assessment instruments and inventories;
  • Assesses the client’s educational level, transferable skills, etc for the career laddering plan and upgrade services;
  • Makes determinations regarding skills training;
  • Assesses and participates in the development of each client’s employability plan, career laddering plan or short term training needs;
  • Assists in job placements or job experience/activities that are in accordance with client’s employability or career laddering plan;
  • Performs follow-up monitoring and case management services after training and/or job placement;
  • Familiar with general eligibility requirements and ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with the State of Florida, DCF, policies and procedures;
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution in Human Services, Business or related field or 5 years of experience in the areas of vocational assessment and career counseling. Up to two years of experience in a related field may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis;
  • At least two years of experience in working with refugee/foreign born population preferred;
  • Ability to provide services in culturally and linguistically appropriate manner desired;
  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Bilingual Spanish/Creole preferred;
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
