About SAC:

The Spanish American Committee for a Better Community is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit human services agency serving the city of Cleveland since 1966. SAC provides comprehensive social services, employment, housing, childcare, financial literacy, and adult education services.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Career Coach and Job Development Specialist’s primary goal is to educate and motivate program construction program participants. This position involves helping clients understand their capabilities and strengths while developing and working toward career goals. In this position, you will also be working closely with local unions and building strong relationships with them. The ideal candidate is bilingual in both Spanish and English.

  • Conducts soft skills/job-readiness training workshops.
  • Organize and maintain client files.
  • Build client rapport and act as a mentor to clients looking for work.
  • Form relationships and work closely with local unions and construction companies.
  • Perform regular follow-ups with clients via phone calls or emails.
  • Outreach to local employers to build employer partner pool and strengthen program relationships with the community.
  • Assist with class coordination and site visits.
  • Refer clients to in-house services to address barriers to success.
  • Attend meetings and training relevant to program and agency mission and values.
  • Conduct job placement and retention activities.
  • Conduct assessments and monitor job retention.
  • Assist clients with resume preparation.
  • Screen resumes and places clients in positions for which they are qualified.

Qualifications and Skills:

High School and construction experience. Must display strong communication and public speaking skills in English and Spanish. Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain client confidentiality. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have a valid driver’s license as local travel is required.

Pay: $38,000.00 per year
