Job Summary


The Center for Rehabilitation and Independent Living in the Waters College of Health Professions at Georgia Southern University is seeking applicants for Camp RAD Coordinator.

The mission of Camp RAD is to empower transition-age youth with disabilities to live healthy, independent lives. Camp RAD uses an interdisciplinary approach that utilizes experts in the fields of pediatric occupational, physical, and speech therapy, adaptive physical activity, child and family development, public health and nutrition.

We provide a fun, safe summer experience that promotes life skills and physical activity with a focus on the comprehensive well-being of the child. Our interdisciplinary team of professionals uses an innovative model to plan, implement, monitor progress, and evaluate camp.

Temporary employees are employed according to departmental need and the length of time will vary by workload and may not exceed 1300 hours worked in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, implements and supervises a well-organized, quality day camp program offering activities in the areas of arts and crafts, sports, games, outdoor recreation, field trips, special events, and leisure swim
  • Ensures camp environment promotes inclusivity, team focus, and a fun recreational experience
  • Conducts on-site orientation for camp counselors (where applicable)
  • Organizes and conducts camp staff meetings as needed
  • Schedules, supervises, and evaluates camp staff
  • Ensures camp staff adhere to their assigned work schedules and provides ongoing performance feedback
  • Ensures that camp staff and participants know and follow the safety and program procedures
  • Maintains communication lines with camp families through daily communication systems and communicates with any parent/guardian whose child is experiencing difficulty or experiences an injury
  • Maintains camper files
  • Ensures files are taken on field trips, to the Family Aquatic Center, and to any offsite activities
  • Ensures camp staff have travel first aid kits available at all times
  • Keeps all Accident/Incident Reports on file
  • Ensures camp staff keeps the site presentable and safe, including facility rooms, restrooms, outdoor recreation areas, and storage areas

Shift Specifics

  • Up to 20 hours per week
  • Camp RAD runs from May 30th to June 22nd
  • Must attend camp every day for the entirety of the program (Monday - Thursday, 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM)

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements

  • Master of Science Kinesiology or related field

Required Experience

  • Experience working at Camp RAD

Proposed Salary


$24.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
