The Salvation Army is looking to fill a Camp Director position at our Camp Ponderosa Ranch location in Heber, AZ. The successful candidate for this position will have professional experience in the camping industry, experience in Marketing or Guest Services and be self motivated. . This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, and more.

The Camp Director works under the supervision of the Divisional Youth and Candidates Secretaries to develop and direct the camp and guest services ministries of The Salvation Army at Camp Ponderosa Ranch. This will include the development and management of programs, human resources, finances, marketing, and strategic operations, the administration of the camp, development, managing human resources, and the responsibility of stewardship of programs and facilities. Live "on-site" for the convenience of The Salvation Army and for the purpose of fulfilling the obligations and responsibilities of the Camp Director position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of combined experience in one or more of the following:
  • Professional experience in the camping industry
  • College education related to this role’s responsibilities
  • Other training related to this role’s responsibilities
  • Experience in marketing & guest services
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, with ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Must possess and demonstrate an ability to work with people, including community groups, participants, campers, and staff in an affable, concerned and caring manner.
  • Must display the ability to and be accountable for the efficient scheduling of time and resources made available to perform tasks.
  • Self-motivated and have ability to motivate others.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office software (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army programs and policies preferred
  • Ability to develop, manage, and work within a budget.
  • Able to maintain a non-judgmental attitude & professional approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in supervisory role required.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must obtain an Arizona driver’s license and have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to support the mission of The Salvation Army in all aspects of the camp ministry
  • Must take and pass The Salvation Army’s e-learning modules for:
  • Fleet Safety
  • Sexual Harassment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
