JOB DESCRIPTION:
CAD Process Engineer
Position Summary:
Lead and work with product development teams in coordinating, defining, developing, and modernizing processes/methods/standards to support the design of R&D products. Drive and lead projects to improve the connectivity of R&D product information into customer support and manufacturing processes and information systems. Coordinate and collaborate closely with CVS PLM Teams in the recommendation and implementation of global R&D tools and functionality in support of R&D productivity improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Develop Global CAD R&D strategies, processes, methods, and best practices to support R&D product design requirements and integrate product data into business processes such as manufacturing, and supply chain, and customer support.
- Coordinate closely with CVS PLM team in implementing new functionality, data migrations and manage ongoing data migration processes such as Ideas to NX or NX to Creo.
- Develop and maintain CAD Model/Drawing release processes, design rules, standards, methods, and procedures - harmonize across all design teams.
- Drive initiative towards MBD (model-based design) and design automation methods.
- Lead CAD Community of Practice group and coordinate user issues, user requests/ideas for specific product team functionality, business case tests for release upgrades and new functionality.
- Identify, develop, and Implement design quality assurance standards such as model checking tools and coordinate customer specific CAD requirements.
- Identify and implement DFM best practices and strategies to support MFG processes such as casting, machining, stampings, sheet metal, plastics, assembly, and GD&T.
- Evaluate, conduct/coordinate training needs.
- Coordinate closely with remote CAD Process Administrators to improve CAD design sustainability in BCC locations
- Coordinate product data transfers to external partners.
- Maintain R&D design standard libraries such as ASME, ISO and SAE.
- Manage inventory of non-standard CAD/R&D design tools.
- Coordinate closely with CVS PLM team in CAE tool administration to assure CAD & CAE tool uptime (CAD Tools, FEA, CFD, VSA, Fatigue, etc.)
Knowledge:
- Familiar with common engineering tools (Teamcenter, PTC)
- Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter PLM system and related integrations (NX Manager and IPEM).
- Working knowledge of Dassault SolidWorks PDM system a plus.
Experience:
- 6 years related experience or master’s degree plus 5 years related experience.
- Experience in identifying, developing, and rolling out companywide R&D CAD design processes, methods, and standards.
- Delivering group training to adult technical audiences as well as providing individual coaching
- Experience in MBD (Model Based Definition) and modernization of CAD methods
Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency in applying CAD design standards and methods
- Proficient (application and administration) in advanced CAD Design tools such as CREO, NX, SolidWorks.
- Possess skills in leadership, communication, and Organizational Change Management in the rollout of R&D process improvement initiatives.
- Possess skills in coaching and training adult learners and application of adult learning principles.
- Change oriented – ability to influence, collaborate and lead improvement initiatives - team player.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a preference in design engineering; Advance degree preferred.
Travel:
- Up to 15% depending on projects.
