American Built Systems

American Built Systems Inc., located in Plainfield, IL, is a manufacturer of wood floor trusses, wall panels, and roof trusses servicing the Chicagoland area. American Built Systems, Inc. is seeking a full-time, entry-level, or experienced Wall Panel and Roof / Floor Truss Designer. We offer health insurance, life insurance, paid holidays, and vacation time.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to design floor truss, roof truss, and wall panel components from blueprints
• Capability to read and understand blueprints
• Work closely with customers, design team, and sales team to generate cost estimates and other documents required for projects
• Complete designs promptly according to deadlines and production schedules
• Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers

Required Skills:

• Working knowledge of CAD-based applications obtained through work experience or education
• Capability to read and interpret blueprints
• Basic math skills
• Work well under pressure and be able to problem solve
• Interact with co-workers and clients using excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have a general understanding of construction
• Desire to learn new CAD-based applications
• Math skills
• Word and Excel
• Be a reliable, respectful team player
• Preferred, but not required, have working knowledge of Alpine or MiTek software

Physical Requiements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

In-house training will be provided by senior members of the American Built Systems Design Team.
