Pay Range

$72,480 - $93,864 Annually

Job Description

We have an opening for a Business Unit Security Specialist to provide a full range of support in the handling of classified documents and media. You will perform a combination of complex and difficult classified administrative duties, typically coordinating activities with multiple components, within standard policies and procedures under minimal supervision, this position is in the Weapons and Complex Integration Directorate.

In this role you will

  • Resolve security-related issues/inquiries; interpret and provide guidance on DOE Security Orders and Laboratory Policy policies, procedures, guidelines, and manuals. Serve as resource on interpretation of security procedures relating to classified document handling.
  • Serve as Operational Security (OPSEC) or Technical Surveillance and Countermeasures (TSCM), which would involve assessments of WCI facilities and will assist in determining facility/program readiness for foreign national visits.
  • Serve as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Liaison providing guidance to WCI employees and performing assessments of WCI facilities.
  • Assist in managing day-to-day operations of a large, classified library belonging to the Stockpile Stewardship Program. Oversee CAS-related functions within this Library and ensure compliance with institutional and DOE/NNSA policy and procedures.
  • Assist senior level security specialists in the analysis, development, and implementation of security-related policies, procedures, methods, and practices. Collect and validate operational/administrative data and prepare reports.
  • Perform a range of responsibilities including the management, processing, protection, and control of classified materials.
  • Assist in managing audits, self-assessments, and annual accountable document inventories.
  • Represent the program and management, serve as a resource on all matters concerning classified documents and security regulations.
  • Support plans to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
  • AA degree, in a security, science, or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
  • Knowledge of security principles and regulatory requirements related to CMPC, OPSEC, and/or TSCM and the ability to understand and follow established LLNL/ DOE practices, standards, processes, and systems.
  • Experience supervising and/or leading work activities and ensuring internal processes are implemented effectively.
  • Knowledge of sensitive and/or classified documents/media handling, storage, protection, and administrative controls.
  • Experience working effectively under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment and the demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills necessary to recommend appropriate actions and solutions.
  • Experience compiling, tracking, monitoring, resolving, and reporting data and results.

  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a diverse workforce and represent the Division and Program with all levels of management, internal and external to LLNL.
