The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The positions tasks and responsibilities includes, but are not limited to: Critically analyzing waste receptacle needs in various areas based on the amount of waste or the lack thereof; Placing and removing waste receptacles as necessary; Emptying waste receptacles; Operation of trash truck, operation of tools, equipment and machinery utilized in Waste Management, Managing cardboard recycling, general site maintenance and snow removal, all on a large scale and other tasks as required to meet the mission of the department. Must be a team oriented individual to help facilitate the responsibilities of the Landscape Services Department.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
The successful candidate must: Be in good physical condition capable of performing manual labor tasks in a variety of situations and conditions; have general knowledge required for efficient removal and reduction of waste; be skilled in the operation of waste collection equipment utilized in large scale situations, capable of understanding and carrying out oral and written work assignments. Candidate must: have a valid NC Driver’s License; have the ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License within 12 months of employment in order to maintain employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Completion of high school. Experience in collecting waste; operating waste collection equipment on a large scale and the equipment operation required to perform such tasks. A valid NC Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
