Carnegie Mellon University’s Division of Student Affairs is searching for a Building Coordinator to assist the Director of the Cohon University Center with facility management, operations, and general administration. Responsibilities include: supporting the physical operations of the building (particularly maintenance and cleaning efforts), overseeing the execution of events occurring in the building, liaising with key partners within the building, managing storage and administrative space in the building, and supporting the department’s student staff.
This position is a Tuesday-Saturday role with standard hours from 11:00AM-7:00PM, Tuesday through Friday, and 1:00PM-9:00PM on Saturday. During peak periods of the year, overtime work will be required and compensated at a rate of 1.5 times hourly wage.
Core responsibilities will include:
  • Serve as building supervisor and all associated responsibilities;
    Event support, customer service, access control, setup, and cleaning
    Ensure the safety of all guests and events and triage any significant custodial or facilities issues that arise
    Administer various building policies and procedures
    Ability to use 25Live event reservation software and other technologies
    Provide guidance and support to student staff working at the Information Desk
  • Proactively seek out and address issues related to cleaning and maintenance within the building, and tracking work orders to ensure completion
  • Space management and administration;
    Oversee storage space throughout the building
    Partner with the office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Civic Engagement to co-administer student organization spaces.
    Liaise with building partners to ensure support of their spaces
  • Maintains Cohon University Center furniture and equipment through inventory, repair, and purchasing
  • Other projects as assigned by the director
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills; customer service excellence; strong written communication and oral presentation skills that can be effective with varied audiences; broad knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Ability to cultivate a network across the organization and use relationships developed to improve departmental functioning. Adapt to new tasks and technology as needed.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years of facility management and/or relevant work experience required
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
