Budget Director – Vincennes, IN Full-Time

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Budget Director.

The Budget Director is responsible for establishing the direction and administration of the complex and detailed budget process for the University. Responsibilities include development of reports utilizing system data, analyzing financial data, creating modeling scenarios, projections, and evaluating data for trends. This position collaborates with campus leadership to ensure they have the information necessary to recommend budget actions and provides information to senior leadership to make strategic decisions for the University.

The Budget Director establishes proper budget procedures and methods, maintains the budget using managerial accounting concepts in a fund accounting framework, and ensures compliance with university, state and federal policies and requirements. The Director prepares analysis and presentations as requested by the Vice President of Finance. This position also manages the position control module in Human Resources, maintains the position funding, assists with internal audits, and other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Finance.

The successful candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Seven years of budget experience preferably in higher education environment.
  • Five years leadership experience in management role.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Banner by Ellucian.
  • Experience developing efficient organizational performance reporting tools including annual budgets and multi-year forecasts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers and constituents; be a team player.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced office environment.
