Traust Brewing Co. is looking for an Associate Brewer!

Traust Brewing Co. is looking to add an Associate Brewer/Production Brewer with a minimum of 1 year of commercial brewing experience to our team. You will gain exposure to our entire brewhouse process and will be playing an active part in our current growth and production of our sought-after beers. Qualifications:

  • Commitment to workplace safety, consistency, quality, and focus.
  • General knowledge of the brewing process.
  • A minimum of 1 year of Shift Brewer experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, time management, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Understanding of OSHA and industry safety standards.
  • A willingness to adopt traditional, new and experimental brewing methodologies.
  • Forklift certification is a plus (not required).
  • Knowledge of industrial PLC controls and instrumentation.
  • An intrinsic drive to become a true student of the brewing craft.
  • Be a US Citizen and hold a valid driver’s license.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Wort production in our all-electric 3 BBL brewhouse performing brew day double turns - brew day preparation, mash-in, mash-out, wort transfer, gravity checks, pH testing, wort stability sample-taking, knockout and oxygenation.
  • CIP of brewhouse, fermentation, and bright tanks.
  • Transfer beer to and from fermentation tanks - aseptically and anoxically - using strict SOPs to achieve end products of the highest quality.
  • Miscellaneous cellar operations including yeast handling and pitching, dry hopping, tank purging, CIP, and general cleaning and sanitation.
  • Monitor fermentation and conditioning while following a strict record-keeping regimen with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist with packaging beer as needed on bottling and canning days.
  • Maintain yeast disposal/harvest, and grain area cleanup schedule.
  • Be an active and valued part of the Traust Brewing Co brand.
  • Clean and sanitizes product lines and equipment and general working area in the cellar including floors, tank exteriors, parts, floor drains, filtration equipment, racks and containers.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work all shifts, including traditional and non-traditional work days, mid or swing shift and the occasional weekend if needed.
  • Be able to adapt to last minute changes to accommodate business needs.
  • Capable of standing on your feet for long periods of time, up to 10 hours per day.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the brewery.
  • Must not have a history of alcohol related convictions.
  • Physical requirements: capability of regularly lifting up to 60 lbs to shoulder height and maneuvering 165 lbs, comfortable working at heights, in cramped spaces, in awkward positions, and in hot or cold environments for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment.
  • Capable of following all safety procedures while working with potentially hazardous machinery, chemicals with the proper PPE and safeguards in place.
  • Follow and comply with all brewery SOP’s, terms and conditions as stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • Be 21 years or older.

Upon being hired there will be an expectation of signing an NDA (Non-DisclosureAgreement). Compensation will be based on experience and performance.
