Job description
Working in a highly pressurised call centre environment to provide a professional, accurate and prompt administrative function to facilitate the delivery of a professional efficient and effective centralised booking service for a variety of clinics.

Using own initiative in often complex situations to ensure that patients are booked in line with local and national Access targets.

Work as part of a multi disciplinary team, supporting other team members to deliver the Access targets and a patient focused booking service to be part of a cohesive and integrated admin function to the service.

Answer all telephone enquiries into the department promptly , dealing with queries, progress chasing, in a tactful, professional manner and ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained. Using judgement, empathy and tact to assess situations as they arise and take the appropriate action, escalating to the appropriate manager when necessary.

To receive, and respond to booking requests both from within the hospital and from external agencies (for example GDP’s, GP’s etc.) whilst maintaining a efficient filing system.

Through the use of WPAS live waiting list view select and send for adequate numbers of appropriate patients to fill future new and follow up clinic slots, ensuring at least six weeks’ notice is given. Ensure that subsequent telephone requests from patients to book appointments are dealt with in a timely manner. Ensure patients are able to attend at short notice are identified and are contacted when patients cancel/are cancelled.
