Job description
Day in the life: Boating staff work as dockhands with the power boaters, sail boaters and sailing camps around the launch basin. Run the daily operations of the Boating Center and watercraft rentals.
- Enforce facility policies to ensure the safety of beach patrons
- Encourage patrons to experience Lake Michigan through boating
- Help boat owners launch and dock sailboats and motorboats while offering a guiding hand with proper boating etiquette
- Responds to patron concerns and inquiries
- Maintains facility and assets; basin hoists, docks, boating center, SUPs, kayaks and safety boats
- Qualified applicants will be asked to assist with sailing school programs
Summer employment: We work hard Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend Facility Hours Weekdays 0900 – close Weekends 0800 – close. Employees work 35-40 hours each week.
Safety: We work hard to ensure all patrons are safe at the beach and while on Lake Michigan.

Qualifications:
- 16 years old by hire date
- NASBLA Illinois Boater’s License (before start date)
- After hire we help you get certified in:
- CPR and First Aid/AED
- US Sailing Safe Powerboat Handling
Mandatory Trainings: Classroom May 21 On-Site: May 22, 26
Hiring Range: $14-$16 DOQ
