Job Summary
The Biorepository Technician I is the core of our biorepository operations. He/She is responsible for the day-to-day 24/7 operations of the biorepository and sample management in accordance with approved standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all applicable regulations.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates compliance with all SOP’s, administrative policies & procedures, and governing authorities’ regulations at all times
  • Competently and safely works and handles potentially infectious material while following all prescribed OSHA blood-borne pathogen guidelines.
  • Able to understand and demonstrates at all times client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • The role requires on-call responsibilities for after-hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Additional roles and responsibilities are described below under essential job functions.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Any one of the following: BS/BA Degree in a life science or healthcare discipline
  • Healthcare/Life Science Student in the 3rd or 4th year
  • Or previous 2 – 3 years of equivalent education or experience in similar biological sciences or related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 2 – 3 years experience in a comparable laboratory performing relevant techniques is preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally through both oral and written channels.
  • Understanding of daily repository of scientific and clinical operations, regulations and terminology are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional work organization and time management
  • LIMS experience
  • Laboratory or clinical specimen management skills
Essential Job Functions & Evaluation
  • Performs all activities, in accordance with the SOPs related to biomaterial sample handling
  • Processing, accessioning, barcoding and storage while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the client samples.
Job Description & Performance Evaluation
  • Complies at all times to company Administrative Policies and
  • Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GxP practices, and pertinent regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrates understanding and follows the procedures related to the handling, management, and chain of custody of controlled and/or confidential documents.
  • Documents and generates sample management, inventory and logistics reports per SOPs.
  • Documents are completed accurately, timely, and returned to Quality Assurance within
  • 24 hours of completing the assignment or job.
  • Demonstrates ability to utilize and operate the company’s information technology systems; including but not limited to:
  • Microsoft Office, Laboratory Information Management Systems.
  • Manages the receiving and shipping of biospecimens shipped at multiple conditions in accordance with relevant operating procedures and compliant with DOT/IATA regulations.
  • Demonstrates competency of and performs assigned OQ and
  • PQ validations of company-owned controlled temperature units (CTU) and other equipment.
  • Maintains exceptional communication and collaboration with clients about sample management, projects, logistics, and other services provided.
  • Adheres and actively participates in the repository maintenance, cleaning and safety programs.
  • Participates actively in the company’s Quality Assurance and
Quality Management Programs.

Training – Attends all required training, to include annual
HIPAA, Blood Borne Pathogens, OSHA, and laboratory safety at a minimum.
