Behavior Therapist Job Description - Entry Level Full-Time (30-40 hours/week)

We are currently in the beginning stages of growing our company to provide the best ABA services for our families! A great opportunity for those interested in making meaningful contributions as we are continuously looking for ways to improve our ABA company. We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, well-spoken behavior therapist to join our team! The responsibilities of the behavior therapist include observing and interacting with patient behavior, responding to behavioral problems with effective interventions, communicating with the clinical director or BCBA, collecting ongoing data on paper or digital platform, support social skills training, and keeping detailed records of therapy session. This position helps gain a better understanding of the specific skills and better prepare our behavior therapist for growth in the field, especially those pursuing to be a speech pathologist, school psychologist, behavior analyst, or school teacher.

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or similar education , at least 2-3 years of experience, and a proven ability with children with behavioral plans and behavior challenges.

Behavior Therapist Responsibilities:

• Observing and implementing ABA principles with patients in the home, community, and/or clinic setting.
• Seeking interventions for behavioral and developmental challenges.
• Educating patients and their parents in helpful activities.
• Under supervision, implement treatment plans for individual patients.
• Establishing rapport with both patients and parents to ensure success.
• Recognizing critical improvements in patient behaviors.
• Participates in-service training sessions by staying up-to-date with the latest ABA-related information, techniques, and developments.
• Keeping detailed records for the clinical supervisor in the implementation of treatment plans and the effectiveness of programs.
• Implement strategies for maladaptive behaviors.
• Willing and open into receiving constructive feedback.
• Perform other responsibilities designated by the management team, BCBA Supervisor, Clinical Director, and CEO.
• Any other duties assigned by the clinical team and/or HR department

Behavior Therapist Requirements:

• Minimum high school degree, and preferably individuals enrolled in a college program or ready to graduate in Psychology, Child Development, Special Education or a related field.
• Experience working with individuals ages 2 to 40-years-old, preferable with autism, intellectual disability, and other developmental disorders, especially non-verbal patients.
• Ability to commute to clients in Orange County/surrounding areas
• Committed in making impactful changes to the lives of our families and children.
• Strong communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, parents and staff.
• Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations and policies as directed by the management team.
• Possess a valid California driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
• Possess (or willing to possess within 3 months) a CPR and First-Aid certification
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with DOJ and FBI regulations when working with children.
• Preferably: Candidates with American Sign Language (ASL) certificate, and/or knowledge of at least 50 basic signs, are highly successful at Listen-2-me LLC and will be provided with a higher pay rate and more 1:1 hours.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• Home, community, and/or clinic environment, subject to interruptions; subject to driving to various locations to conduct work. The noise level in the environment may range from quiet to loud, depending upon activity.
• While performing the duties it is required to regularly stand, walk, run, sit and talk, or listen.
• The behavior therapist required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The behavior therapist may have to deal with students who display aggressive behavior to self and others, as well as support patients with toileting needs which can include, but not limited to, changing diapers and cleaning.
