Job Title: Behavior Technician

***This position requires weekend availability.***

Location: Homes in Lakeville, Burnsville, and Apple Valley, MN

Pay Rate Range: $20.00-$25.00/hour (depending on experience)

Work Schedule: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift, hours available Monday-Sunday

Summary:

The Behavior Technician delivers person-centered and behavioral support to individuals with varying degrees of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and/or related conditions as well as mental health diagnosis and complex medical needs. The Behavioral Technician provides direct assistance, supervision, and behavioral management in addition to teaching home and community based community living service categories. The Behavior Tech promotes community participation and integration to increase individuals independence and enable their freedom to pursue joy.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience working with individuals who have high behaviors (biting, hitting, kicking).
  • 2+ years of experience with working individual with severe and persistent mental Illness and chronic medical conditions.
  • 2+ years of experience with implementing Positive Support Strategies and/or behavior management techniques.
  • 2+ years of experience with de-escalation and restraint.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills to write narratives in grammatically correct sentences.
  • Ability to interpret behavioral trends; Experience with person-centered thinking and planning preferred
  • Judgment and decision-making skills to handle crisis situations and day-to-day events
  • Have demonstrable working knowledge on vulnerable adult’s laws, 245D statutes, and other pertinent state regulations applicable to HCBS
  • Ability to pass background check clearance from MN Department of Human Services
  • Have a valid Driver’s License, maintain a working vehicle, and clean driving records
  • Good attendance and willingness to be adaptable
