Hopewell Health Centers is a nationally accredited federally qualified health and community mental health center with 23 sites across TEN counties throughout Southeastern Ohio (Athens, Franklin, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Perry, Ross, Vinton, and Washington). We are currently seeking a Behavior Aide to join our Athens Respite team.

This position is full-time and will be working 4pm-12am covering weekends and 3 shifts throughout the week

As a Behavior Aide, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing direct care and behavioral support of the residents. Performs all of the following actions in providing services within Joint Commission and ODMHAS standards:
  • Facilitate life skills through individual and groups on topics such as interpersonal skills, communication skills, anger and stress management, social skills, daily living skills, problem solving skills and positive coping skills.
  • Provides assistance during crisis situations.
  • Immediately report to Director any dangerous behaviors of the residents. Such behavior includes but is not limited to the following: suicidal actions or threats; damage to property; threats of actual or perceived violence; or other behaviors considered potentially harmful.
  • Completing relevant documentation and provides statistical reporting as required by agency policy. Completes progress notes and daily logs within one working day of the delivery of service.
  • Receiving supervision from Director or designee.
  • Attending and participating in staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Treating residents with respect and interacts with them in a careful manner, taking into account the assessments of their needs/problems and resources/strengths.
  • Maintaining policies of confidentiality about residents and staff.
  • Reporting to work on time and is fully prepared to give full attention to the job.
  • Informing program director of any complaints from clients, families, community or a staff member in a timely and responsible manner.

What do we look for in our Behavior Aides??

  • Eligible to work in the United Stated
  • Experience and/or training working with severely mentally ill adults in a residential setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mental health or closely related field preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to work closely with clients and team members in problem solving; ability to work responsibly, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form.
  • The candidate must be able to relate well/appropriately to severely mentally ill adults.
