Purpose:
Glass Beads surfaces of fabricated sheet metal assemblies to specified finish.

Embraces the Lean Enterprise strategy and adheres to all safety policies.
Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:

Glass Beads surfaces of fabricated sheet metal assemblies in a enclosed bead blast chamber.


60%


Conditions the surface of items to a finish specification.

Visually examines and feels metal surfaces to detect defects, such as dents, scratches, or cracks. Corrects or reports non-conformances as necessary.

Transports parts and assemblies to and from the work area using a forklift or other material handling equipment.

10%


Maintains a neat and organized work center.

10%


Occasional Responsibilities:


Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to read safety and production procedures and understand oral instructions in English.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Trade school training preferred.
Thorough understanding of grinding and polishing fabricated sheet metal assemblies. A thorough knowledge of metal finishing techniques is recommended but not mandatory.
Forklift training and certification are required.
Basic understanding of electrical and pneumatic hand tool operation.
Ability to manually lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to wear and work effectively with a fresh air supply respirator.

Experience:

Sheet metal finishing experience with ability to perform all finishing operations with minimal supervision. Working experience in an ISO or continuous improvement environment is a plus.
