BSA Officer

Position is Exempt, Fulltime and reports to the Board of Directors. (Administratively reports to the C.E.O. and supervises one employee.)

This person is responsible for performing regulatory compliance duties and will continue to develop and maintain a strong BSA finance program to ensure that all banking rules, regulations, and statutory requirements are met. This position will go on to learn more in the bank’s deposit, fraud and loan compliance area.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

· Maintaining current knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and all related anti-money laundering and OFAC regulations so as to serve as a subject matter expert on BSA related topics. Will attend and participate in at least annual training provided by the Bank.

· Conduct and develop monitoring activities of BSA/Anti Money Laundering regulatory requirements within the various locations of the bank.

· Provides timely and actionable reporting to the appropriate management, committees, and board of directors.

· Maintains effective communication with all personnel so that they are informed regarding all BSA compliance and participate and facilitate corrective actions in this area.

· Ensures that an updated database for BSA reference is maintained, policy and procedures are updated and implemented, and all processes are in place.

· Maintains a working knowledge of regulatory requirements and remains aware of best practices that will affect the bank’s strategic plans.

· Helps to coordinate with external parties including federal and state examiners, auditors, and consulting firms.

· Adheres to Bank Policies and Procedures

· Coordinates with Human Resources to advise on annual BSA training.

Other Duties to follow as time and progression allows:

· Helps to develop the banks Compliance program and will train for deposit and loan compliance.

· Assists in contracting, participation and coordination of outside audits.

· Tracking and research of compliance topics

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

This position has a background in BSA/AML Compliance with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in banking. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Experience with deposit and lending products, auditing experience, and the ability to investigate regulation changes independently.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

· Must have strong verbal and written abilities.

· Must be proficient with computers and other office machines.

· Must be able to travel to other branches.

· Leadership experience related to BSA/Compliance.

· Strong understanding of BSA processes and activities common to a community bank.

· Ability to maintain effective relationships and strong influence with co-workers.

· Represents integrity, leadership skills and strong resolution abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a primarily sedentary position. The associate must be able to travel to other branches, stand, sit and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Adequate vision is required. Occasional travel by car or plane with overnight stays may be required for training.
